Stripe Configuration - huntrsoftware.com

The site uses PHP for Stripe configuration and producing the checkout session.

huntrsoftware.com includes a sponsor page that leads users to an external Stripe checkout page for making non-tax-deductible financial contributions to Huntr Software LLC. This guide documents how Stripe is configured for this website.

Step 1 - Create a restricted key

From the Stripe dashboard, select Developers at the bottom and API keys from the popup. In the Restricted keys section, select Create restricted key. Follow the process to create a key with write access for Checkout Sessions. Be sure to use a Stripe Sandbox test key when first configuring the site host.

Step 2 - Set up stripe.php

Connect to the site host with ssh and do the following:

sudo install -d -m 0750 -o root -g www-data /etc/huntrsoftware
sudo install -m 0640 -o root -g www-data /dev/null /etc/huntrsoftware/stripe.php
sudoedit /etc/huntrsoftware/stripe.php

Then paste the contents of server/stripe.php.example from the site repo into the editor, and add the restricted key.

Add the test key first, deploy the site, and try creating a checkout page and use card 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future expiry date and any CVC. Once the test is confirmed, swap in the live key. PHP picks up the change without a restart.
